Project Steps

After the presentation on typography, students choose their partners and interviewed them using the Biography Interview doc. Students took several portrait photographs of their subject with the constraint that they must use one full length and one photograph with a tighter composition. Each student then edited their photographs, worked on their Biography Visual Research doc, and then created a visual research board in Pinterest.

Students then dowloaded the template doc and watched the project tutorial. Each student was tasked with creating a typography palette and at least two full spread layouts. Project constraints included using at least two photographs in each layout spread, trying a layout with one photograph that was full spread, they had to use a header and sub-header, try to use a drop cap, use lore ipsum text, and create at least two versions.

The goal of this project was to combine their knowledge of photography and photoshop and utilize their knowledge of graphic design & typography to create an appealing layout that represents their “subject.”
